Kepsut is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Balıkesir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Balıkesir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . Kepsut is located about 25 kilometers east of the center of Balıkesir . Since a regional reform in 2012, the district town is identical in terms of area and population to the district. According to the city logo, the place was raised to the rank of Belediye in 1888 .
The district is in the east of the province. It borders Dursunbey to the east, Bigadiç to the south, the central district to the west, Susurluk to the northwest and the province of Bursa to the northeast . The D-230 road from Balıkesir to Kütahya runs through the city . In the west of the city the Değirmencik Dere flows into the Simav Çayı , the ancient Makestos. The city itself is located in the eastern part of the Balıkesir Plain (Balıkesir Ovası), to the east of which is the Umurlar Dağı Mountains .
