Savaştepe is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Balıkesir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Balıkesir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . The city is located about 40 kilometers southwest of the center of Balıkesir . Since a regional reform in 2012, the district town is identical in terms of area and population to the district. According to the city logo, Savaştepe received the status of a municipality in 1953
The district is located in the south of the province. It borders in the northwest on İvrindi , in the northeast on the central district and in the south on the Manisa province . The district town lies on the connecting road from Balıkesir to Bergama , west of the Ömer Dağı mountain range (also Mancınık Dağı ). In the west of the district, about five kilometers northwest of the city, lies the Sarıbeyler Barajı reservoir .
Attractions
The stalactite cave Yazören Mağarası is located in the south-east of the district near the village of Yazören .
