Balya is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Balıkesir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Balıkesir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . It is located about 30 kilometers northwest of the center of Balıkesir . Since a regional reform in 2013, the district town has been identical in area and population to the district. According to the city logo, Balya received the rank of municipality in 1895

The district is located in the western center of the province. It borders in the south on İvrindi , in the southwest on Havran , in the west on the province of Çanakkale , in the north on Gönen and Manyas and in the east on the central district . The D-555 road from İvrindi to Biga runs through the city . In the northeast of the district the Manyas Çayı (also Kocaçay or Madra Deresi ) flows, which is dammed further north to the reservoir of Manyas (Manyas Barajı) .
