Sındırgı is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Balıkesir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Balıkesir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . Since a regional reform in 2012, the district town is identical in terms of area and population to the district.
According to the city logo, Sındırgı was elevated to a municipality in 1884 .
The district is located in the southeast of the province. It borders in the west on the central district, in the north on Bigadiç , in the east on Dursunbey and the province of Kütahya and in the south on the province of Manisa . The city is on the road that branches off the D-555 coming from Bigadiç to the southwest in the direction of Akhisar . In the northeast of the district lies the Ulus Dağı, part of the Alacam Dağı mountain range , in the southeast of the Kepez Dağı (also Simav Dağları ). The Çaygören Barajı reservoir is located three kilometers east of the district town and is formed by the dammed up source rivers of the Simav Çayı , the ancient Makestos .
