The St. Elisabeth Hospital in Volkmarsen is connected under the same management . Both facilities belong to Marienkrankenhaus Kassel gGmbH , a subsidiary of St. Vinzenz Krankenhaus gGmbH , whose sole shareholder is the house of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vinzenz von Paul (KdöR) is in Fulda .

history
The Marienkrankenhaus was founded by the railway wagon manufacturer Peter Wegmann to take care of his workers and started work in January 1913 with the specialist departments of surgery, gynecology and ENT. Internal medicine, urology and ophthalmology were added later. During the First World War the Marienkrankenhaus became a military hospital, after the end of the war the old departments were continued. In the Second World War, the building was almost completely destroyed, and patient care took place in the neighboring air raid shelter. After the war, the hospital was regularly expanded and modernized, the last phase of modernization being completed on time for the 100th anniversary in 2013.
Today around 8,500 inpatients and 4,000 outpatients are cared for in four specialist departments.
