Marietta Waters is an American singer of Latin American descent.

Career

For her collaboration with Sérgio Mendes , Waters gave herself the stage name Marietta Araiza and sang the title Homecooking on his 1975 album Home Cooking . She interpreted the title track on Syreeta's album One to One in 1977.

Waters only had commercial success as a soloist in the 1980s, when she was produced by Harold Faltermeyer , now as Marietta . In 1986 she contributed the song Destination Unknown to the soundtrack Top Gun . A chart success in Germany , Austria and Switzerland had in the same year with Fire & Ice , the theme song to Willy Bogner's movie Fire and Ice .

Waters wrote songs and made recordings for several colleagues, but also toured with other artists, including Berlin , Stevie Wonder , Giorgio Moroder , Cyndi Lauper , Ringo Starr and Elton John . In 2006 she released the CD A Call from the Heart with pop , Latin , jazz , R&B and gospel influences.

Today Waters lives in Van Nuys , California , and works as a vocal coach .
