Marija Tolj (born November 29, 1999 in Orebić ) is a Croatian discus thrower who occasionally competes in the shot put .

Athletic career

Marija Tolj gained her first experience at international competitions at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2015 in the Georgian capital Tbilisi . There she was eliminated in qualifying in the shot put and finished sixth in the discus throw. A year later, she took fifth place in the shot put and fourth place in the discus throw at the U18 European Championships, which were held for the first time . A little later she retired from the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in both disciplines in the qualification. In 2017 Tolj took part in the U20 European Championships in Grosseto , where he finished fourth with 52.97 meters. In 2018 she reached eleventh place at the U20 World Championships in Tampere with 45.07 m and then retired from the qualification at the European Championships in Berlin with 55.52 m. The following year she won the U23 European Championships in Gävle with a width of 62.76 m and thus qualified for the World Championships in Doha , in which she failed to qualify .

From 2016 to 2019 Tolj was Croatian champion in the shot put and until 2017 also in the discus throw. She also secured the indoor championship title in the shot put between 2016 and 2020.
