Marijan Pušavec (born January 19, 1962 in Gornji Koncovčak (Municipality of Sveti Martin na Muri , SR Croatia), Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian writer , comic book scenarist , publicist , editor and editor .

Life

Marijan Pušavec studied Comparative Literature and Slovene Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Ljubljana . At a young age he wrote reports, reviews and reviews for the literary supplement of the daily Delo, Književni listi, and for Radio Slovenija. He wrote theater reviews for the weekly newspaper Gorenjski glas, worked as a lecturer at the Slovenian Folk Theater in Celje and for two decades as a librarian and local historian at the central library there. From 2000 to 2010 he was the literary editor of Mentor magazine together with the poet Milan Vincetič .

In the early 1990s, Pušavec emerged as a prose writer with the volume of short stories Zbiralci nasmehov (1992, "The Smile Collectors"). He is featured in the representative anthology of Slovenian short prose Čas kratke zgodbe (1998, German translation Die Zeit der Kurz Geschichte, 2001), and some of his stories have been translated into German, Czech, Croatian, Polish, Finnish and English. His story Morje ljubezni (“Sea of ​​Love”) served the Slovenian director Filip Robar Dorin as a text for a part of the film Striptih (TV SLovenija, 1995). His story Niklas in Petra Bermudtzky (2003) also gained broader recognition .

As early as the late 1980s, Pušavec participated as a co-scenarist in the comic serial Hardfuckers by Zoran Smiljanić . Together with Smiljanić, he created the monumental, five-volume historical graphic novel Meksikajnarji (2005–2016, German Die Mexikaner , from Slovenian by Erwin Köstler from 2018) after the turn of the millennium ; some of these serials appeared in continuations in the critical weekly newspaper Mladina .

Since the turn of the millennium, Pušavec has been working intensively with the world traveler and writer Alma Karlin from Celje , for whom he put together an occasional exhibition for the German twin town of Celje Singen . At the Mohorjeva publishing house in Celje, he suggested a new Slovenian translation of Alma's best-known book Einsame Weltreise (1928, Slovenian translation Samotno potovanje v daljne dežele, 2006). In 2009, in cooperation with the central library in Celje, he created the “virtual house” on Alma Karlin, which is accessible in Slovenian, English and German. In the Slovenian National and University Library , which holds the majority of the author's literary estate, he discovered the author's autobiography ( Ein Mensch wird ... ) and arranged it for the Slovenian edition ( Sama, 2010). In collaboration with the dance theater group ArtBarkInternational, he prepared the dance piece Alma. Sama , which took place in 2015 in the Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana. In 2015, the repeatedly reprinted biography Alma M. Karlin, svetovljanka iz province (“Alma M. In 2017, Pušavec wrote the scenario for the graphic novel Zadnji let Tonija Mrlaka (2017, “The last flight of the. ”) Based on the book by Draga Potočnjak Skrito povelje (2013, “The Secret Order ”) - about the military conflict after Slovenia declared independence in the summer of 1991 Toni Mrlak “), draftsman is Zoran Smiljanić.
