The Union der Mitte is an initiative founded by Stephan Bloch in Munich and a grassroots movement of members of the CDU and CSU . The circle came together in the course of the dispute between the CSU and CDU, in favor of a unifying policy between the Union parties.
history
The informal Union of the Middle was founded at the end of 2017 by CSU member Stephan Bloch, who was 28 years old at the time, after the initiative's Facebook page had been created shortly after the 2017 federal election . While Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed the new trend and valued it as an “expression of vitality” in the sister parties, Mike Mohring , for example, warned against the fragmentation of the Union. The CSU party leadership even demanded the immediate cessation of all activities of the informal group, in vain. In August 2018, the Presiding Board and the Management Board of the CDU agreed at the request of the other hand, acting as eV union of values to not officially recognize new internal party groups such as the union of values and the Union of middle to prevent fragmentation of the party and to strengthen the internal party cohesion. The Union of the Middle welcomed this decision. At the beginning of April 2018, the Union of the Middle met in Munich for the first time, and subsequently also in Berlin. In June 2019, she called for a general CO 2 tax , which sparked a nationwide discussion. Most recently, the Union of the Middle was heard in favor of a discussion about the black zero and the careful decriminalization of cannabis .
