Marin Karmitz
Marin Karmitz (born October 7, 1938 in Bucharest , Romania ) is a Romanian-born French film producer , screenwriter and film director .
Life
When Karmitz was nine years old, his parents fled Romania to France, where he took his baccalaureate in Paris and then attended the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques and worked as a cameraman after graduating . He later founded the production company and cinema chain MK2, which specializes in the production and distribution of so-called independent or author films (primarily short films ). He is also an avowed opponent of the coloring of black and white films , as he is of the opinion that a work of art does not need subsequent "improvement". In 2004 he refused to distribute the scandalous film The Passion of the Christ , which then happened through Tarak Ben Ammar .
