Life is a game is a detective comedy by Claude Chabrol from the year 1997 . The original title "Rien ne va plus" (Nothing works anymore) refers to an exclamation in roulette after which it is no longer possible to bet. The film, which was partly shot in the historic Hotel Waldhaus , was released in France on October 15, 1997, and in Germany on January 8 of the following year.
action
The cheater couple Elizabeth (called Betty) and Victor always follow the same pattern. Betty makes nice eyes to a rich-looking man and waits for him to take her to his room. Then she robbed him after using knockout drops .
When the two of them were in Switzerland , Betty ran into the money courier Maurice, who had five million Swiss francs with him. He shows interest in her, which Victor has been doing for a long time. It soon turns out that Maurice wants to embezzle his client's money. Now a competition between Maurice and Victor begins, which apparently doesn't bother Betty that much; rather, she seems rather pleased about it.
Reviews
“A carefree, light film that thrives on the contradictions of its protagonists and their ambivalent tension, which also keeps the viewer in suspense. An endearing finger exercise staged as a game of hide-and-seek about money, love and false identity, which cites many set pieces of the genre, but can also be understood as a self-deprecating replica.
