At the club from San Pedro Sula, he went through several youth selections until 2008 and then came for the professional team in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras , the top division in the country, used. With the team he was in the Apertura 2008/09, which corresponds to the first half of the year in Honduras, runner-up behind the CD Marathón , which won the final first leg 1-0 and the second leg with a goal from Mario René Berríos just to a 1: 1 draw. From 2007 to 2009 Martínez was used in 23 league games and scored three goals.

After Norwegian scouts with the Honduran U-20 national team observed him at the 2009 CONCACAF U-20 championship in Trinidad and Tobago , he received a contract offer from Vålerenga IF just a few weeks later , which he accepted shortly afterwards. Alongside Reiniery Mayorquín ( Aalesunds FK ), he was one of two U-20 players who signed contracts with clubs from the highest Norwegian league this summer.

Martínez made his club debut for Vålerenga on May 3, 2009 in the 3-2 home defeat to IK Start when he came on for Dawda Leigh in the 77th minute . During his loan period in Norway, Martínez was only used in two league games. He played his second game on October 25, 2009, when he came into play in the 79th minute for Luton Shelton in the 2-1 home defeat to Sandefjord Fotball . In total, he was also in 17 league games for the second team of Vålerenga IF in action, for which he scored eight goals.

After returning to his home country in December 2009, he signed a loan contract with RSC Anderlecht in the Belgian Jupiler League shortly afterwards, dated until summer 2010 , for which he was not used at all. In 2012 Martínez joined another loan; this time he moved to the United States for Seattle Sounders FC . After two seasons and a total of thirteen games in Major League Soccer , he returned once more to Real España in Honduras.
