Marion von Haaren (born May 2, 1957 in Kiel ) is a German journalist.

Life

In 1977 Marion von Haaren passed her Abitur at the Erich-Klausener-Gymnasium in Adenau , Ahrweiler district, Rhineland-Palatinate. During her training as a journalist at the Cologne School of Journalism , von Haaren studied economics at the University of Cologne from 1978 . She completed her studies as an economist. From 1984 to 1986 she was an employee of the WDR editorial team in the cable pilot project in Dortmund , but in 1986 she joined the radio department for Economics and Transport at WDR. In 1989 she moved to the business editorial office of WDR television, which Haaren took over as head in 1992. From 1995 to 1997 she was the presenter of the ARD business magazine plusminus . She also became known to a wide audience as a commentator on the daily topics . After an intermezzo as a correspondent in the ARD studio in Bonn , von Haaren was appointed editor-in-chief for television and head of the politics program at Westdeutscher Rundfunk in 1997.

On February 1, 2002, Marion von Haaren succeeded Tom Buhrow as head of the ARD foreign studio in Paris . From July 1, 2007, she was the correspondent and deputy head of the ARD studio in Brussels . Since January 2014 she has been a correspondent in the ARD capital studio. In the morning magazine broadcast on June 12, 2020 von Haaren announced her departure.
