Marit Allen

Marit Allen (born September 17, 1941 in Cheshire , England , † November 26, 2007 in Sydney , New South Wales , Australia ) was a British fashion journalist and costume designer .

Life

The daughter of a Norwegian and a British grew up in France , where she studied at the University of Joseph Fourier Grenoble I in Grenoble . Her career in business began in 1961 as an intern for the British fashion magazine Queen . Allen quickly advanced to the position of editor until she was offered a job at Vogue magazine in 1963 . After 1973, the Vogue had left, she was instrumental in the establishment of study specializing in journalism at Central Saint Martins involved.

Allen's film career began in 1980 when she designed the costumes for Nicolas Roeg's drama Bad Timing . Allen was involved in a wide variety of film productions, including not only film dramas but also historical and science fiction films.

Allen married the American film producer Sanford Lieberson in 1966 , from whom she divorced in 1983. The couple had three children, daughters Lucy and Holly, and son Ben.

Marit Allen died in November 2007 of a sudden brain aneurysm . In 2008 she was nominated posthumously for an Oscar in the category Best Costume Design for the film La vie en rose . However, she received a BAFTA Award for the same film .
