Marius Anton von Attems-Heiligenkreuz
Marius Anton Graf von Attems, Baron von Heiligenkreuz, Luziniss Potgora, Falkenstein and Tanzenberg (born February 10, 1862 in Trieste , † September 1, 1947 in Gorizia ) was the last Austrian K.uK governor in the Kingdom of Dalmatia and a privy councilor.
Life
Marius Anton Graf von Attems -Heiligenkreuz was born as the son of Anton August Paul Graf von Attems-Heiligenkreuz (1819–1909) and Josefa Countess Mistruzzi-Freysingher (1830–1909). Marius Graf Attems married Anna Kamel Edle v Hardegger on October 15, 1892 in Vienna. As an officer, he served as a major in the Landwehr Lancers no. 12 was from November 14, 1895 to 14 May 1901, he Bezirkshauptmann from Lienz district , April 24, 1901 to September 9, 1902 District Governor of District Ptuj , from 24 April 1901 to 1909 district captain of the Marburg district and from 1910 to 1911 district captain of Pola . From October 9, 1911 as the Imperial and Royal Lieutenancy Vice-President he was entrusted with the management of the Lieutenancy in the Kingdom of Dalmatia in Zara . From January 11, 1912 to November 4, 1918 he was the imperial governor of the Kingdom of Dalmatia. Franz Graf Thun and Hohenstein was appointed as his deputy. When he took office, Count Marius Attems received a polite greeting from the chamber members combined with requests for financial help. He soon became aware of the question of the expansion of the railway connections in Dalmatia with connections to Bosnia-Herzegovina . After Serbia's victory over the Ottoman Empire at Kumanovo in November 1912, pro-Serb demonstrations with strong anti-Habsburg movements broke out in the coastal cities of Dalmatia. From the beginning it was not an easy time for the last Austro-Hungarian governor of Dalmatia.
Anton Lukanovich commits himself to the Lieutenancy not to sell his art collection. It is also said that he and heir to the throne Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Este campaigned for the preservation of the last remains of the town wall of Pag , which should have given way to the new building of the district court.
Marius Anton Graf von Attems was an honorary citizen of Arbe, Babinopolje, Blato, Bogomolje, Bol, Budua, Castelnuovo bei Trau, Castelnuovo bei Cattaro, Castel-Vitturi, Cattaro, Bobrota, Drinis, Fort-Opus, Gelsa, Gradac, Grbalj, Gruda, Imotski, Janjina, Kuna, Lagosta, Lastua, Lesina, Muc, Mulla, Neresi, Nona, Novigrad, Obbrovazzo, Orebic, Pastrovic, Perasto, Perzagno, Poljica, Promina, Risano, Sale, Scardona, Sebenico, Selca, Selve, Sinj, Spizza, Stagno, Stolivo, Stretto, Teodo, Trau, Vallegrande, Vrboska, Vrgorac, Vrlika, von Frauheim, Maria Rast, Innichen, Sillian, Windisch-Matrei and another 45 municipalities in the political districts of Marburg, Pettau and Lienz. On December 16, 1925, he received the Italian confirmation of the title "Conte del Sacro Romano Impero".
His older brother Heinrich Christian was the last Austrian KuK state president in the Duchy of Carniola , his younger brother Viktor the last president of the Austrian maritime authority in Trieste.
