Marko Mühlstein (born April 14, 1974 in Aschersleben ) is a German former politician ( SPD ) and managing director of the Landesenergieagentur Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (LENA).

Life and work

After completing secondary school in 1990 at the “Juri Gagarin” polytechnic high school in Aschersleben, Mühlstein completed an apprenticeship as an industrial electronics technician , which he successfully completed in 1994 as an industrial electronics technician in the production engineering department. He then completed a technical college course at the technical college for economics and technology in Weißenfels until 1997 , which he left as a "state-certified environmental protection technician " and with the technical college entrance qualification . Then Mühlstein did his community service in Halle / Saale and from 1998 worked for the state road construction administration Saxony-Anhalt in Stendal. In 2001 he became the personal advisor to the Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Transport of the State of Saxony-Anhalt , Dr. Jürgen Heyer (SPD). In spring 2002 Mühlstein returned to the administration of Saxony-Anhalt as an employee.

In February 2010 he resumed his employment as an employee of the state administration of Saxony-Anhalt and was seconded to the Representation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt at the federal government in Berlin until December 31, 2011. He then supported the innovation and investment program for the energetic renovation of day-care centers and schools -STARK III- by setting up an energy consultancy in the Ministry of Finance of the State of Saxony-Anhalt.

Since July 1, 2013, Marko Mühlstein has been managing director of the Landesenergieagentur Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH.

Political party

After Mühlstein became a member of the Jusos in 1993 , he also joined the SPD in 1996. From 1994 to 1998 he was Deputy Juso State Chairman in Saxony-Anhalt.

From 2001 to 2009 he was chairman of the SPD state committee for transport policy in Saxony-Anhalt. In January 2010 he handed over the chairmanship to the former MEP Ulrich Stockmann.

In September 2009 he was elected to the board of the SPD district association Stendal.

Marko Mühlstein has been a member of the state executive committee of the SPD in Saxony-Anhalt since 2002 and was elected to the state executive committee in December 2010.

Since February 2010, Marko Mühlstein has been chairman of the newly established Energy Committee of the SPD Saxony-Anhalt.

In October 2011, Marko Mühlstein was elected district chairman of the SPD district association in Stendal after long-time district chairman Ralf Bergmann no longer ran for personal reasons. Two years later he no longer ran for the district chairmanship.

MP

From 2005 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag , as deputy spokesman for the Saxony-Anhalt regional group in the SPD parliamentary group .

Marko Mühlstein was a full member of the Committee on Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, a deputy member of the Committee on Economics and Technology, member of the Energy Working Group of the SPD parliamentary group, coordinator for the federal transport infrastructure plan of the Saxony-Anhalt regional group and rapporteur for bioenergy in the SPD parliamentary group.

Marko Mühlstein had entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Altmark constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 33.2% of the first votes . In the 2009 Bundestag election on September 27, 2009, he achieved 20.0%, had to hand over his direct mandate to Katrin Kunert and just barely missed re-entry into the German Bundestag in fourth place on the state list.

Candidate for mayor

In 2009 he was narrowly defeated in the runoff election for the office of mayor of the Arneburg-Goldbeck community .
