The house at Marktplatz 4 is in Nörvenich in the Düren district .

The Rhineland, which was occupied by French revolutionary troops in 1794, was incorporated into the French state in 1801. In the years 1803 to 1813 it was topographically recorded by French engineer-geographers under the direction of Colonel Tranchot . This work was continued by Prussian officers under Major General Baron von Müffling . The maps resulting from these surveys are still today under the name “Karteaufnahme der Rheinlande unter Tranchot / v. Müffling "known and available in stores.

In 1808/09 a cadastral map of Nörvenich was drawn up in the course of these surveys, for which there is an owner register . According to these documents, the property at Marktplatz 4 (this is today's name) had parcel number 476 for the house and 477 for the garden. Matthias Clemens is given as the owner. The property seems to have been vacant at the time.

Matthias Clemens, born in 1761 as the son of the forester Johann Peter Clemens, was also a forester in Nörvenich. He and his father lived in the Gymnicher Burg (now called Nörvenich Castle ) or in an outbuilding. Matthias Clemens had eight children. The eldest son Carl Joseph, born in 1798, also a forester, married Gertrud Bungs from Hommelsheim, an estate between Eschweiler via Feld and Frauwüllesheim , around 1830 . She was one of the wealthiest farmers' daughters in the area. The marriage date cannot be determined in the documents. The year “around 1830” is assumed because in May 1833 the first child of this marriage was born.

The year anchors on Marktplatz 4 indicate the year of construction 1830. It is obvious that Carl Joseph Clemens built the house on his father's property before his marriage.

The family appears to have been quite wealthy. One of the first ancestors came from the Eggersheimer Mühle . The descendants were forester for several generations in the service of the nobles residing in Gymnich . That they enjoyed a high reputation is evident from the fact that Carl Joseph's father was buried in the church in Hochkirchen in 1801 in the crypt of the Barons von Gymnich . The marriage mentioned above also says that.

Carl Joseph is in the documents as a forestry administrator, treasurer called and administrators. He died on November 14, 1876 in Nörvenich. It is not possible to determine who owned or lived in the house until the end of the 19th century.

In 1897, Dr. Julius Habicht as a general practitioner after Nörvenich. It cannot be said whether he immediately lived in the house at Marktplatz 4, nor can it be said when he acquired the house. One would assume that he in his marriage was in 1899 homeowners.

The life data of Dr. Habicht were (according to his death note): Born on September 10, 1872 in Elberfeld , married on January 31, 1899 in Nörvenich to Franziska Müller (born August 22, 1861 in Ibbenbüren ; † April 2, 1928 in Nörvenich). Dr. Habicht died on February 25, 1935 in Bonn .

The Habicht couple had four children. The daughter Josefine married her father's medical representative, Dr. Ewald Domincus, who initially continued the practice in-house. Around 1938 he moved with the family into his newly built house on Bahnhofstrasse .

The house at Marktplatz 4 was bought by the school councilor Dr. Jakob Scheidt.

His life data are: Born on January 20, 1877 in Nörvenich, died on March 23, 1954. He was the son of the Nörvenich wheelwright Johann Scheidt. The Scheidt wheelwright can be traced back to Nörvenich since 1803. Scheidt married Anna Müllegans.

The daughter Maria Scheidt lived in the house for a short time before Reiner Badenheuer and his wife Margot nee. Hamelbeck left. Ms. Badenheuer also worked here as a general practitioner. Her husband was an engineer in a company in Düren .

Today the general practitioner Dr. Gerd Fritzlar. To the left of the house is the former brewery and to the right is the old Mariahilf monastery .
