Markus Giering (* 28. May 1985 ) is a German athlete and Cross Country - Sommerbiathlet .

Career

Markus Giering achieved his greatest successes so far in the summer biathlon. At the German Championships in the Summer Biathlon 2007 in Oberhof , he won the title in the air rifle mass start and was runner-up with the Württemberg III air rifle relay . In 2008 , he placed third in the air rifle sprint in Bayerisch Eisenstein and again won the air rifle mass start. He also came third with the Württemberg squadron. In 2009 Giering won the sprint title in Zinnwald as well as the third time in a row in the mass start with the air rifle. At the national championships in 2010 , which took place again in Zinnwald, a runner-up title with the relay was added.

His older brother Tobias Giering (1982) is also a successful summer biathlete. In 2011 he was able to win all three German championship titles with the air rifle for the first time in Bayerisch Eisenstein. In the season his brother Tobias and Daniel Hummel were on the team.

In athletics, Giering has not been able to achieve such success so far, but has shown several good performances. He took part in the 2009 cross-country championships in Ingolstadt . Here he finished 18th in the middle distance over 3.1 kilometers and won the runner-up title in the team competition. The year before, he and his brother and Christian Lenk were the representatives of the LG Badenova Nordschwarzwald in the cross-country championships and finished third in the team standings on the middle distance. In Fluorn-Winzeln he won the 37th New Year's Eve run ahead of his brother at the turn of the year 2009/10. At the Baden-Württemberg indoor championships in Karlsruhe in 2010, he finished third over 3,000 meters.
