Markus Mörth

Markus Mörth (* 1973 in Graz , Styria ) is an Austrian film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Markus Mörth lived in Graz until his Matura . He then moved to Vienna, where he studied philosophy, theater studies and journalism at the University of Vienna from 1993 to 1996 . At the same time he worked as an assistant director at the Ensemble Theater Vienna .

In 1996 Markus Mörth went to Munich to study directing at the University of Television and Film Munich . With his graduation film Allerseelen he won the First Steps Award in 2004 for the best German-language graduation film. Afterwards he worked as part of his community service as a refugee supervisor for Grazer Caritas, where the idea for his book and film Geschwister came about. He has been working as a freelance director and screenwriter since 2006. He lives with his family in Graz and Munich .

Since 2003 Markus Mörth has been a lecturer at the International Summer Academy for Theater Graz . Since 2007 he has been a lecturer at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz at the Institute for English Studies with the subsidiary subject media. In addition, since 2013 he has been the managing director of the DrehbuchWerkstatt München - Steiermark, a cooperation with the DrehbuchWerkstatt München .
