Markus Ramseier

Markus Ramseier (born August 12, 1955 in Liestal ; † July 21, 2019 ) was a Swiss writer and name researcher .

Life

Markus Ramseier grew up in Pratteln . He completed his studies in German , English and Romance studies at the University of Basel in 1985 with a doctorate on the subject of dialect and standard German at the radio in German and Romansh Switzerland . He then worked as a research assistant at the German Seminar at the University of Basel.

He later worked as a teacher , journalist and publishing editor . From 2008–2011 he was director of the Liestal Poet and City Museum . From 1995 to 2017 he was in charge of the work on the Baselbieter name book on behalf of the Baselland Foundation for Local and Field Name Research .

Ramseier emerged as a writer of prose works . He was a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland and the Basel Lever Foundation . In 2002 he took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt .

He lived with his family in Pratteln. Ramseier died of cancer in July 2019 at the age of 63.
