Marquise Derell Goodwin (born November 19, 1990 in Lubbock , Texas ) is an American football wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) and former long jump Olympian . He was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played for the Bills until 2016, after which he was under contract with the San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2019 . He played college football for the Texas Longhorns.

Goodwin played for the University of Texas at Austin College Football (2009–2012) and on the Longhorns long jump team (2010–2012).

College football

In his college career, Goodwin started in 21 of 49 games. His overall college stats included 116 receptions for 1,296 yards, 6 touchdowns, 44 kickoff returns for 985 yards, and one touchdown.

One of his most important scoring plays was in the game against the Oklahoma Sooners, which resulted in a 16-13 win. Furthermore, one of his kickoff returns for 95 yards led to a touchdown that sealed the victory over the Texas A&M Aggies.

Goodwin also took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , where he finished 10th in the final of the long jumpers .

NFL

After being the third fastest player overall at 40 yards in the 2013 NFL Combine, he was selected as the eighty-seventh player by the Buffalo Bills in the third round.

Buffalo Bills

2013

On May 10, 2013, Goodwin signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo Bills .

He caught his first touchdown in the sixth week against the Cincinnati Bengals . Goodwin played 12 games in his first season, made 17 receptions for 283 yards, and won 351 yards with 16 kickoff returns.

2014

Due to frequent injuries in the 2014 season, he only caught one pass for 42 yards.

2015

After missing 5 games due to a broken rib, he caught 2 passes for 24 yards.

2016

2016 was his best season in Buffalo with 29 receptions for 431 yards and 3 touchdowns.

San Francisco 49ers

On March 9, 2017, Goodwin signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers .

2017

In his first season in San Francisco, he set new records for these categories with 56 receptions for 962 yards.

2018

Due to his good performance in the previous season, Goodwin received a contract extension in March 2018 that ties him to the San Francisco 49ers until 2021.

2020

Before the 2020 season, the 49ers gave Goodwin to the Philadelphia Eagles on April 25, 2020 , swapping six- round picks in the ongoing 2020 NFL Draft , moving San Francisco up twenty places.

Personal

Goodwin is married to Morgan Sannette Goodwin-Snow, a former hurdler. On November 12, 2017, his newborn son died just hours before the game against the New York Giants.
