Martha Huebner

Marta Huebner (born April 16, 1889 in Potsdam , German Reich , † February 16, 1969 in Berlin , Germany ) was a popular comedian , actress and chanteuse .

Life

Hübner was the eleventh child of an administrative officer. She attended the Stern Conservatory as a free student . She received her first engagement for vocal lectures in 1914 with Albert Kühne in the "Klimperkasten" in Bülowstrasse. She played for eight years at the Nollendorff Theater under Herman Haller . She performed with well-known colleagues such as Claire Waldoff , Lori Leux , Eugen Rex and Hugo Fischer-Koeppe .

She began her stage career in a small café in Friedenau. There she performed her own songs. In 1923 the Admiralspalast opened and she started her own business as a humorist. She performed the "Komische Alte" on Schwank and operetta stages. She appeared in almost all of Berlin's major entertainment theaters. She played at La Scala , the Plaza, the Wintergarten and the Rose Theater . After the end of the war she played in the Friedrichstadt-Palast and, after two attempts in the silent film era, took on small film roles again. In the GDR she played several times in the short film series Das Stacheltier . She discussed several records for Electrola .
