Martha Israel ( Sorbian Marta Israelowa ; born on November 18, 1905 in Lohsa ; died after 1967) was a Sorbian member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Martha Israel was born the daughter of a laborer. After attending primary school, she worked as a housemaid and employee. After the Second World War, Israel began to be active in the Democratic Women's Association of Germany (DFD) from 1947 . In 1952 she became a member of the SED . As a result, she attended the national school of the DFD from 1953 to 1954. At the same time, from 1953, Israel was also a city councilor in Spremberg as well as chairman of the Spremberg district association of Domowina and at times a member of the Domowina district committee in Cottbus . As the district chairwoman, she felt that the Domowina tour in Bautzen and Cottbus was left alone in the difficult situation on site from a Sorbian perspective and complained about the lack of support in her personal environment.

In 1958 Israel was first elected as the successor candidate to the People's Chamber. From 1959 to 1962 she was a member of the SED district leadership in Cottbus. During this membership, she attended the district party school in Großräschen for some time in 1961 . At the 26th session of the 3rd People's Chamber on April 17, 1963, Martha Israel was officially presented as the successor to SED MP Max Müller, who had resigned for health reasons . Martha Israel also sat in the next legislative period, this time as a member of the DFD, from 1963 to 1967 in the People's Chamber. Her last known job was as a clerk for innovation in the Black Pump Combine .
