Martin Šetlík (born August 12, 1969 in Pilsen , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech handball coach and former handball player .
The 1.94 m tall and 94 kg heavy right-hander was mostly used in the middle of the back room , later also as a circular runner.
Career
Martin Šetlík started his professional career in his hometown with TJ Škoda Pilsen. From 1992 he played for the Czechoslovak record champions AS Dukla Prague . After winning the championship and the cup in 1994, he moved to the German second division club EHV Aue . After three years he returned to his homeland to HC Kovopetrol Pilsen, where he won the championship in 1998 and 1999 and the cup in 1998. Then he signed the German regional league team SG Roding / Regensburg. After two seasons he joined the French club US Ivry HB , with whom he reached the semifinals in the EHF Challenge Cup 2001/02. In 2002 he signed a three-year contract with Bundesliga club VfL Pfullingen . Then he went to the HSC Bad Neustadt . After two years he returned to the Czech Republic and ended his career as a player-coach at Lokomotive Pilsen. Since 2008 he has been a trainer there or at the successor SSK Talent 90 Pilsen.
With the Czechoslovak national team , Martin Šetlík took part in the 1992 Olympic Games and finished 9th. He played with the Czech national team at the 1995 World Championships (8th place) and 1997 (11th place) as well as the 1996 European Championships (6th place) . In 2008 he made his comeback at the European Championships. Šetlík played a total of 213 international matches in which he scored more than 612 goals.
