Martin Aagaard
Martin Aagaard (also called Zackarias Martini Aagaard ; born October 13, 1863 in Levanger , † 1913 ) was a Norwegian marine painter .
At first he was a seaman and visited Copenhagen as well as other European cities in this capacity . Then he followed lessons at the technical evening school in Trondheim and at the royal drawing school in Kristiania (former name Oslos ) and also studied painting with Harriet Backer , Knud Bergslien and Christian Krohg . He worked as an assistant for the latter Norwegian painter for a considerable time. He created partly large-format paintings, most of which depict ships in the open sea or near fjords. In the 1890s he exhibited his works in Oslo, in 1898 in Bergen and in 1900 at the World Exhibition in Paris . In 1909 he painted the view of the port in Trondheim.
