Martin Apelt

Martin Apelt (born October 2, 1961 in Sulingen ) is a German dramaturge and theater director.

Life

Andrzej Wirth , Hans-Thies Lehmann , Adolf Dresen , Heiner Müller , Klaus Zehelein and Anna Viebrock were among the formative professors during his studies in applied theater studies in Gießen (diploma 1989) . During his studies he worked as a costume and stage designer at the Giessen City Theater . Stations as a dramaturge were the Deutsches Theater Göttingen , the Landestheater Eisenach , the Theaters Bielefeld and the Theater Konstanz . As chief dramaturge, he worked at the Dortmund Theater and at the Mainz State Theater , where he was in charge of the drama division. He was acting director at the Stadttheater Gießen and the Staatstheater Darmstadt . In his repertoire he was responsible for commissioned works as well as world premieres and premieres of contemporary drama by Daniel Call , Kurt Drawert , Wilhelm Genazino , Lutz Hübner , Thomas Jonigk , Rebekka Kricheldorf , Andreas Jungwirth , Lukas Linder, Robert Menasse , Simone Meyer , Wajdi Mouawad , Fausto Paravidino , Peter Schanz , Lot Vekemans , Urs Widmer u. a. The scenic implementation of non-dramatic works was just as much a focus as the finding and establishing of new performance and performance locations as an alternative to traditional peep-show aesthetics.

Martin Apelt is a member of the German Academy of Performing Arts .
