Martin G. Cohn

Martin Georg Cohn (* 28. May 1966 in Olsberg ) is a German politician of the SPD . He has been Lord Mayor of Leonberg since December 1, 2017 . From 2007 to 2017 he was mayor of the municipality of Rudersberg .

Life and work

Martin Cohn grew up in Goslar . After completing secondary school (1981), he completed an apprenticeship as an office clerk at Karstadt AG in Goslar from until 1984 . From 1986 to 1992 he was a temporary soldier in the Bundeswehr . In 1994 he obtained the advanced technical college entrance qualification with a focus on economics through evening secondary school (1991–1993) . From 1994 to 1997 he then studied administration at the University of Applied Sciences for Municipal Administration in Braunschweig . There Cohn obtained a degree in administrative management from the University of Applied Sciences . From 1994 to 2005 he was in the district of Goslar in the Office of Social Services , the Finance Department and the Environmental Agency operates. Furthermore, from 1998 to 2001 he was a part-time lecturer at the FHS in Braunschweig for the subjects of business administration , economics and business mathematics . From 2006 to 2007 he was a treasurer in the community of Tuningen for one year . In 2007 he was elected mayor of the municipality of Rudersberg and confirmed in office in April 2015. Since September 2009 was Cohn member of the district assembly of the district Rems-Murr and there since 2011 chairman of the SPD. On September 24, 2017, Cohn was elected Lord Mayor of the City of Leonberg with 51.98 percent of the votes cast in the first ballot .

Cohn is the spokesman for “Inter-municipal cooperation for urban road mobility”.

In May 2019, he decided to take his family name Cohn . At the age of six, he had the name Kaufmann received his stepfather.
