Martin Gruber (politician, 1983)
Martin Gruber (born April 29, 1983 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 2009 to April 2018 he was mayor of Kappel am Krappfeld , since April 4, 2018 he has been state party chairman of the Carinthian People's Party and since April 12, 2018, state councilor in the Carinthian state government of Kaiser II .
Life
Martin Gruber graduated from the agricultural and commercial academy in Althofen . In 2009, at the age of 25, he became mayor of Kappel am Krappfeld . Since 2010 he has been managing director of Beteiligungs- und Infrastruktur Kappel am Krappfeld GmbH . He was the personal advisor to Regional Councilor Josef Martinz .
Since June 2014 he has been the first vice-president of the Carinthian Association of Municipalities , since April 2016 district party chairman of the ÖVP in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district . He is the deputy chairman of the Carinthian farmers' union. He is a councilor of the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture and a member of the provincial board.
In the state elections in Carinthia in 2018 , he was the top candidate in the constituency east and received the most preferential votes of the ÖVP candidates with 3,375. He was part of the 11-person ÖVP negotiating team for the state government of Kaiser II , after Christian Benger's resignation on April 4, 2018, he was elected by the board of the Carinthian ÖVP as the managing ÖVP state party chairman. On October 30, 2018, he was elected at the state party conference of the ÖVP with 301 out of a total of 306 votes, which corresponded to an approval of 98.37 percent. Katja Morgenstern, Ronny Rull, Alfred Altersberger and Elisabeth Köstinger were elected as his deputies .
Since April 12, 2018, he has been responsible for the areas of agriculture and forestry, rural road network, hunting and fishing law, local regional development and rural development, traffic (traffic law, transport association, traffic infrastructure), logistics, roads and bridges in the state government of Kaiser II .
He is a part-time farmer and, as a contract employee of the state, was a clerk for subsidies in the agricultural department. In the mayoral election on July 8, 2018, Josef Klausner (SPÖ) was elected as his successor as Mayor of Kappel am Krappfeld with 54.2 percent of the vote.
