Martin Kohlsdorf

Martin Kohlsdorf (also Martin Kolsdorf ; Martin Kolsdorffius ; * around 1585 in Neisse , Principality of Neisse ; † July 9, 1624 , Breslau , Principality of Breslau ) was titular bishop of Nicopolis ( Nicopolitanus ) and auxiliary bishop in Breslau from 1617 to 1624 . From 1621 until his death he was also vicar general of the Bishop of Wroclaw.

Life

His parents were the citizens of Neiss, Nikolaus and Hedwig Kohlsdorf. Martin studied in Rome, where he received his doctorate in theology . In 1600 he became canon in Breslau, in 1613 canon canon in Glogau . He was also provost of the Breslauer Kreuzstift .

At the request of the Breslau bishop Karl of Austria , he was appointed titular bishop of Nicopolis and auxiliary bishop in Breslau on January 24, 1617. As Bishop Karl himself had not yet reached canonical age , Martin Kohlsdorf was ordained bishop on April 23, 1617 by Prague Archbishop Jan Lohelius in the church of the Strahov Premonstratensian Monastery . On July 29, 1617, Martin Kohlsdorf took part in Prague as the representative of his bishop at Ferdinand II's coronation as King of Bohemia. After the bishop's flight, in 1619, together with the cathedral chapter , he paid homage to the newly elected Bohemian King Friedrich V of the Palatinate , who fled into exile in the Netherlands in 1620 after the battle of the White Mountain . After the bishop's return to Breslau, Martin Kohlsdorf was appointed by him to be his vicar general in 1621.

Martin Kohlsdorf died on July 9, 1624. His body was buried in the Breslau cathedral .
