Martin Liebscher
Martin Liebscher (* 1964 in Naumburg ) is a German artist and photographer .
biography
Liebscher grew up in Speyer and studied from 1990 to 1995 with Thomas Bayrle and Martin Kippenberger at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main . In 1993 he attended the Slade School of Fine Art in London, and in 1996 he became a master student of Thomas Bayrle.
Liebscher currently lives in Berlin .
In the 2007 winter semester, Liebscher took on a professorship at the Offenbach University of Design in the field of photography. Since April 2009 he has curated the exhibition space »HfG Offenbach: Satellit Berlin«. There, students from the HfG Offenbach have the opportunity to exhibit and live in Berlin for one month at a time. Together with Anne-Marie Beckmann, he initiated the Deutsche Börse + HfG Photo Promotion Prize in 2010 , which was awarded for the first time on the 13th HfG tour. The jury included the renowned photographer Barbara Klemm, Anne-Marie Beckmann, curator of Deutsche Börse AG and Prof. Bernd Kracke, President of the HfG Offenbach. Oliver Dignal was the first to receive the award for his series »Tuck«.

Liebscher's large-format photographs are based on the digital montage of cut-out photographs of himself in various poses. These self-presentations, known as “family pictures”, are thematically presented in different locations such as B. recorded in offices, theaters and concert halls, beaches, factories and finally copied into these rooms on the computer. His 1995 "longest group picture with one person" found an entry in the Guinness Book of Records with a total length of 37 meters .
