Mary Carillo (born March 15, 1957 in Queens , New York ) is a former American tennis player and today's television journalist.

Life

Carillo played on the WTA Tour from 1977 . Her greatest success was the victory in mixed at the 1977 French Open at the side of John McEnroe , whom she has known since childhood. In 1980 she had to end her active career due to a knee injury.

Immediately after her career as a tennis player, Carillo took a position as a television journalist, first for USA Network (1980-87) and PBS (1981-86) and then for CBS (since 1986). From 1996 to 1999 she reported for HBO from the Wimbledon Championships . She has been employed by NBC since 2003 and reports from Wimbledon and the French Open . In addition to reporting on tennis tournaments, she has also been regularly involved in programs about the Olympic Games since 1996.

Carillo has received two Peabody Awards for her work .

Carillo now lives in Naples , Florida . In 2004 she made a brief guest appearance in the film Wimbledon - Game, Set and ... Love .
