Maryanne Miller
Maryanne Miller is a US soldier with the rank of general and has been in command of Air Mobility Command since September 2018 .
Life
Miller did her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1981 at Ohio State University in Columbus before completing her undergraduate pilot training at Williams Air Force Base (AFB) near Phoenix , Arizona , from September of the same year . She then worked as a flight instructor on T-37 in Phoenix and on Randolph AFB in Texas until 1984 . In 1986 she was retrained on the Lockheed C-141 Starlifter transport aircraft and deployed to Altus AFB in Oklahoma before becoming a squadron captain at McChord AFB in Washington State .
In 1987 she was employed again as a flight instructor, and in 1988 she took on a role as flight safety officer for the squadron. In 1993 she moved to the 459th Airlift Wing in Washington as Deputy Operations Group Commander and from 1995 was responsible for Strategic Airlift, Reserve Operations and then for Fighter Forces Programmer, Reserve Plans and Programs at the Pentagon . In 1999 she moved back to the 459th Airlift Wing on Andrews AFB as Operations Officer and Deputy Operations Group Commander .
In December 2001 Miller retrained to the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy and was initially employed at Dover AFB in Delaware until 2004 , then at Scott AFB in Illinois until January 2008 . From 2008 Miller again took on various speaker positions in the Pentagon and in the US Air Force Command, including as Director of Programs and Requirements in the Office of the Air Force Reserve , Deputy Director of Partnership Strategy , Interim Deputy Director for Trans Regional Policy and Deputy to the Chief of Air Force Reserve before assuming the post of Chief of Air Force Reserve and Commander, Air Force Reserve Command .
She has been Commander, Air Mobility Command at Scott AFB since September 26, 2018 .
