Masha Dimitrieva (born January 10, 1966 in Simferopol ), real name: Maria Dmitriewa, Russian Мария Дмитриева is a Russian-born German pianist .

Life

The daughter of a violinist and a pianist received her first piano lessons at the age of six. Her first public appearance took place when she was nine years old. From 1981 to 1985 she attended the special music school of the Moscow Conservatory and then studied from 1985 to 1990 at the Moscow Conservatory , among others with Pawel Messner , a student of Emil Gilels , and with Margarita Fyodorova .

From 1992 she studied in Germany at the Hanover University of Music and Drama in the master class of David Wilde and had private lessons with Conrad Hansen . In 1993 she won a prize at the Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona . A solo performance in Seattle led to the big breakthrough. Since then she has conducted her concert career through numerous countries in Europe and North America, where she has performed with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, New Orleans , the Philharmonic Orchestra, Winnipeg , the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, among others ; the Munich Symphony Orchestra; has performed with the Kiel Philharmonic and the Hamburg Symphony. Their first CD with works by Chopin , Scriabin and Brahms was produced in Seattle in 1994 . Numerous CD recordings with international labels in Germany and Austria followed.

Masha Dimitrieva can be regarded as the discoverer of Gordon Sherwood , with whom she got in touch on the basis of a TV program on ARTE about this vagabond composer. Impressed by her musical power of expression and interpretation, he dedicates his first piano concerto to her . The work was premiered in 2000 and recorded in 2002 by Werner Andreas Albert with the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra as a production by Bayerischer Rundfunk for the cpo label . In addition, a CD was made in 1999 with compositions by Franz Liszt and in 2003 the CD "Dance Rhythms" with works by George Gershwin , Scott Joplin , Gordon Sherwood and Ernesto Nazareth . In 2004 another CD with solo piano works by Gordon Sherwood was released as a live recording of the world premiere. In 2019 Masha Dimitrieva and soprano Felicitas Breest released a world premiere recording of songs by Gordon Sherwood. It is the first CD of a planned complete recording of the previously unpublished songs by the American composer who has entrusted Masha Dimitrieva with the care of his musical heritage in his will.

For the 250th birthday of the composer Ignaz Pleyel , a CD with piano works was released in spring 2008 on an original Pleyel museum wing as a co-production of the Viennese label Gramola and the International Ignaz Josef Pleyel Society in Vienna, 2011 - first recording of the piano works by Camille Pleyel (1788-1855). The pianist cooperates regularly with various radio stations (BR, SWR , Radio Bremen ).

Masha Dimitrieva works as a freelance pianist. In 2014 she founded her own label "Sonus Eterna".
