Mathias Richter

Mathias Richter (born September 11, 1967 in Hopsten ) is a German economist , political official and politician ( FDP ). Since June 30, 2017 he has been State Secretary in the Ministry for Schools and Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

education

After his Abitur at the Gymnasium Private Episcopal Furstenberg School Recke (1988) judge took a study of economics at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster on which he in 1995 as a graduate economist graduated.

Political career

In 1995 Mathias Richter joined the FDP. From 1997 to 2000 he worked as a youth education advisor at the regional association of North Rhine-Westphalia of Young Liberals , has been chairman of the Recklinghausen district association and deputy chairman in the Ruhr district since 1998, and in 2000 he became an advisor for schools and further education, science and research, media policy, sport and culture of the FDP -Landtag parliamentary group North Rhine-Westphalia. Just one year later, Richter became a senior consultant in the FDP parliamentary group. After the formation of the Rüttgers cabinet in 2005, he became head of the cabinet department in the Ministry for Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, led by Andreas Pinkwart . In 2008 he moved to the post of head of the finance, human resources, organizational development and information management group in this ministry, and from 2011 he was head of the university medicine, medical research, construction affairs of university clinics, gender equality, gender mainstreaming group . For the 2017 federal election he was a direct candidate for the FDP in constituency 121 (Recklinghausen I; Waltrop and Castrop-Rauxel ).

On June 30, 2017, Mathias Richter was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Schools and Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the formation of the Laschet Cabinet by Minister Yvonne Gebauer . This made him the successor to Ludwig Hecke .

Richter is an assessor on the proposal of the district associations in the FDP state executive committee of North Rhine-Westphalia.

During the Covid 19 pandemic , Richter came under fire for “chaos communication” around the reopening of schools.

Private

Richter is married and has four children.
