Matthäa hero
Matthäa Held (born November 11, 1942 in Dreisbach in the Westerwald ; † March 13, 2018 in Paderborn ) with baptismal name Agnes was a nun in the congregation of the Sisters of Christian Love .
Live and act
After attending primary school (1948–1956) in Dreisbach, Agnes Held completed vocational training as a housekeeper (1957–1960) in Siegburg and joined the congregation of the Sisters of Christian Love in Paderborn in April 1961 , where she was given the religious name of Sr. Matthäa received. During her novitiate , she passed the secondary school leaving examination in Münster and attended the college for social pedagogy in Cologne from 1964 to 1967 . From 1967 she worked in the Pauline von Mallinckrodt children's home in Siegburg, initially as a group leader, then from 1973 to 2008 as the home director. From July 2008 until her death in 2018 she was active in the mother house and until 2016 also in the provincial leadership of her religious congregation in Paderborn.
Honors
In 1987, Sr. Matthäa was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for her commitment to improving the quality of home education and observing the constantly changing requirements of youth welfare.
In 2008 she received the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany for her life's work, including in particular the opening of the Pauline von Mallinckrodt children's and youth home to local schools and associations as well as the successful integration of children and young people into the city of Siegburg.
