Criminal proceedings

In December 2016, an investigation was initiated against Büttner for attempted sexual assault . At the end of January 2017, the public prosecutor in Erfurt announced that it was investigating Büttner on suspicion of rape . A former AfD adviser had reported him to have harassed her on a business trip in Erfurt. The AfD spoke of a campaign of revenge by the former employee. This was terminated by the AfD board just a few weeks before the end of the actual probationary period. The board of directors justified this step with poor professional work and the chairman Poggenburg is said not to have known anything about her accusation against Büttner, which was filed relatively at the same time. Büttner also blames the woman for having beautified her grades in order to keep the position as a speaker. In the process against the dismissal of the AfD consultant at the Magdeburg labor court, this statement was rated as controversial. The investigation continued in 2018. In June 2019, the Bernburg district court convicted the Magdeburg AfD city councilor Robby Schmidt in this context. As a Büttner confidante, Schmidt had dialed the emergency number after the sexual assault and claimed that the woman wanted to harm herself. According to the victim, this was part of a strategy to portray her as mentally ill after the sexual assault.
