Matthias Gärtner (actor)

Matthias Gärtner (* 1992 in Karlsruhe ) is a German actor .

Life

Matthias Gärtner was born as the son of an opera singer in Karlsruhe, where he grew up. His grandfather comes from Berlin . After graduating from secondary school , he first trained as a forest manager . In order to then finance his living, he worked for almost two years in a hostel on Berlin's Alexanderplatz . During a stay in the USA , he attended an acting workshop in Los Angeles and then decided to become an actor. He completed his acting studies from 2014 to 2018 at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf .

During his studies he worked in cinema and TV productions, including a. in the US-German co-production Bridge of Spies - The Negotiator (Director: Steven Spielberg ).

Since 2016 he has been a regular guest at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam , where he a. a. participated in the German premiere of the play People Respect Me Now by the Swedish author and director Paula Stenström Öhmann (director: Annette Pullen ). In 2018 he was a guest at Theater Neubrandenburg . In the 2018/19 season he took on the leading role of the young Patrick in Kristo Šagor's play Patricks Trick at the Hans-Otto-Theater , who learns that his brother will be born with a disability. In the 2019/20 season he played one of the leading roles in the children's play Gans you stole my heart at the Hans-Otto-Theater .

Gärtner took part in several short films and also shot for ZDF . In the fourth TV film in the series Zimmer mit Stall (2020), which will be broadcast on Das Erste , he played the young groom Steffen at the side of Aglaia Szyszkowitz , Katja Weitzenböck and Anne-Marie Waldeck .

Gärtner has played the piano , drums and guitar since childhood . He lives in Berlin .
