Matthias Morgenroth

Matthias Morgenroth (* 1972 ) is a German journalist and author of children's and youth literature as well as non-fiction .

Life

Matthias Morgenroth grew up in a parsonage in the Munich suburb of Puchheim . As a teenager, he ran many children's and youth camps, as well as training courses and workshops. After doing community service in care for the elderly and the sick, he first studied German and then Protestant theology in Munich . The topic of his doctorate in 2002 was the question of why modern religiosity is expressed above all in the Christmas festival group. Parallel to his studies, he and friends ran a free theater, the “theater ex urbe”, with which he also went on many tours.

During his studies he began to work as a journalist, initially for the Süddeutsche Zeitung . For several years he wrote and designed the children's supplement “Sonntagskind” for the Bavarian Sunday newspaper. Since completing his studies in 2001, he has been working for Bayerischer Rundfunk as a reporter and editor with a focus on "Spirituality and the Art of Living" and "Bavaria" for radio and television. He is also on the editorial team for “ Publik-Forum -Extra, magazine for spirituality and the art of living”. He regularly gives lectures and workshops, etc. a. as a lecturer at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen. Scientific and journalistic work repeatedly results in non-fiction books and articles.

Matthias Morgenroth has been writing books for children and young people, continuing advent calendars and picture books since 2002. He regularly goes on reading tours with his children's books and reads at festivals, in schools and libraries. He also stages scenic readings for theater stages or for the radio. He makes medieval and folk music with friends, especially on the street. Matthias Morgenroth lives with his family in Munich .
