Matthias Schrom , also Matthias Schrom-Kux , (* 1973 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian television and radio journalist . On May 25, 2018, he was appointed editor-in-chief of ORF 2 .

Life

Matthias Schrom began his journalistic career in 1991 at the South Tyrolean private radio station Antenne Austria West as a presenter and reporter, subsequently he worked as a presenter at Radio M1 in Sterzing / South Tyrol. In 1993 he moved to the ORF regional studio in Tirol , where he worked as a presenter and reporter for the current service at Radio Tirol . In 1997 he became an Ö3 correspondent in Tyrol and subsequently an Ö3 reporter in Vienna. In 1998 he became editor-in-chief and program director at Antenne Tirol , from 2000 he was also program director of Radio Arabella Tirol. In 2001 he returned to ORF Tirol and was, among other things, head of the service in the current service, in 2004 he became head of service at ORF Vienna-Today. Since February 2010 he has been the domestic policy editor of Zeit im Bild and deputy head of the chronicle editorial team. He also presents the ORF press hour . In 2010 he was also a lecturer at the University for Continuing Education in Krems , and since 2017 he has also been a lecturer at the FHWien .

On May 25, 2018, he was appointed editor-in-chief of ORF 2 by ORF General Director Alexander Wrabetz . He took over these functions after the separation of the editorial offices in ORF one and ORF 2 on June 11, 2018. In this function, he is responsible, among other things, for Zeit im Bild and ZIB 2 . Wolfgang Geier was appointed editor-in-chief of ORF eins . The two succeeded Fritz Dittlbacher , who until then was editor-in-chief of the only editorial team for both ORF television channels.
