Matthias von Wulffen

Matthias von Wulffen (born December 19, 1942 in Lübeck ) is a German lawyer who was President of the Federal Social Court from 1995 to 2007 .

Life

After graduating from high school, von Wulffen completed a voluntary two-year military service as a temporary soldier from 1962 . He then studied law at the Universities of Hamburg and Marburg . In 1969 he passed the first state examination in Hesse and the second state examination in Bavaria in 1972 .

From 1973 von Wulffen worked in the Bavarian social justice system. In 1979 he was appointed judge at the Bavarian State Social Court , in 1985 as presiding judge and in 1986 as president of the social court in Munich . In the following year, von Wulffen was appointed judge at the Federal Social Court, where he was initially assigned to the senate responsible for accident insurance . In 1990/91 he was seconded as a federal advisor for the Free State of Saxony to set up the Saxon social administration. 1992/93 was from Wulffen member of the Independent Commission aptitude test for the takeover of former NVA - officers in the Bundeswehr . In 1995 he was appointed President of the Federal Social Court with effect from September 1, 1995. At the same time, he took over the court senate responsible for health insurance benefits law.

In July 2007 von Wulffen was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Kassel for his services to social law.

Wulffens' successor as President of the Federal Social Court was Peter Masuch on January 1, 2008 .
