Mattias Nilsson Jr. (born February 19, 1982 in Östersund ) is a former Swedish biathlete.
Nilsson began his career as a cross-country skier . At the Junior World Championships in 2001 in Karpacz , Poland , he was 40th in the sprint and 58th in free technique over 30 kilometers. A year later he was sixth in free technique at the Junior World Championships in Schonach in the Black Forest over 10 kilometers. After being used only occasionally in lower-class FIS races until 2004, he switched to biathlon.
At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin he surprisingly reached 8th place in the sprint. His best placings in the World Cup he achieved in the 2005/2006 season at Holmenkollen and 2007/2008 in Pokljuka , both with 3rd place in the sprint. He was also a member of the Swedish relay team, which won the first Swedish win over 4 × 7.5 km in the 2004/2005 season. Mattias Nilsson took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. His best result was 34th place in the individual. With the relay he finished 4th. Then he took part in some cross-country competitions again. His last competition was the Birkebeinerrennet on March 19, 2011, in which he was 52nd.
Nilsson is the brother of biathlete Anna Maria Nilsson . In 2011 he ended his career because of health problems.
