Maude Adams
Maude Adams , actually Maude Ewing Adams Kiskadden (born November 11, 1872 in Salt Lake City , Utah , † July 17, 1953 in Tannersville , New York ) was an American theater actress at the beginning of the 20th century. Her star role was that of Peter Pan , a literary figure by Sir James Matthew Barrie .
Life
Maude Kiskadden was the daughter of banker John Henry Kiskadden and his wife Asaneth Ann "Annie" Adams, one of the leading women in Salt Lake City society. Even as a baby, Maude could be seen on stage in her mother's arms. As a young actress, she was promoted by the New York theater producer Charles Frohman , who, among other things , cast the role of Peter Pan in his play of the same name with her. Neither commented on rumors that Frohman and Adams had secretly married; it was never confirmed either.
