Max Becher (* 1964 in Düsseldorf ) is a German photographer living in New York . He is the only son of the photographer couple Bernd and Hilla Becher . He completed his studies at the Cooper Union in Lower Manhattan , New York, among others with Martha Rosler and Hans Haacke , with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), and at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University , with a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA).

Becher's work has been exhibited in numerous museums alone and together with those of his wife, the photographer Andrea Robbins , since the mid-1990s. Most recently, the Sprüth Magers gallery in Berlin exhibited the “Nativist Americans” photo series he had created together with Andrea Robbins: from April 27 to August 10, 2019.

The works of the artist couple are in the artistic tradition of the New Objectivity and are linked in content with the socially critical approach of artists such as Dan Graham , Allan Sekula , Hans Haacke and Martha Rosler . Her photographs incorporate the documentary as well as the artistic-conceptual.
