Max Hahn (born April 30, 1981 in Luxembourg City ) is a Luxembourgish engineer and politician. For the Democratic Party (DP) he is a member of the Chamber of Deputies , the state's parliament, as well as a local councilor and alderman (aldermen) in his home municipality of Dippach .

Career

Hahn was born on April 30, 1981 in Luxembourg City. He grew up in Bettingen, a district of Dippach, where he still lives today. Hahn attended elementary school in Schuweiler and the crafts school in Limpertsberg . He then took up a degree in electrical engineering at the University of Luxembourg , during which he specialized in the field of renewable energies and graduated as the best of his year. Hahn then worked for a few years in an engineering office before he reoriented himself professionally and from 2010 until his election to parliament in 2013 worked as a trainer for the fire department in his hometown.

politics

Hahn has been a member of the Democratic Party since 2005. From 2010 to 2014 he headed the national youth organization of the party, as of May 2019 he is 1st Vice President of the DP and Chairman of the District Association South.

In the local elections at the end of 2005, Hahn was elected to the Dippach municipal council. The election result led to a coalition of his DP with the LSAP , which had a majority of one seat, and in which it was agreed at the beginning that the post of 2nd lay judge would go to the LSAP for the first three years and the DP for the next three years. Hahn was sworn into his new office on a Friday in early 2009. However, the DP municipal councilor and 1st aldermen Gaby Schaul had already fallen out with both parties, then resigned and, as an independent MP, had agreed a change of power with the opposition CSV . Therefore, the entire church leadership was voted out of office on the following Monday, which earned Hahn the designation “Schöffe für ein weekend”. In the next local election in 2011, the majority situation changed again, and Hahn has been a lay judge again since then.

In the 2013 chamber election Hahn landed in fourth place in the South constituency, with three seats won for his party. As Claude Meisch, who was in front of him, moved to the government bank , Hahn was able to take over his mandate on December 5, 2013 . In the general election in 2018 Hahn was able to defend his position. He heads the parliamentary committee on families and integration and is deputy chairman of the committees on housing, the environment and mobility and public construction.

Hahn has a sister, Patricia, and a brother, Pit. He played soccer for the Schuweiler club and is chairman of the Dippach tennis club.
