Max Irlinger (born February 17, 1913 , † April 5, 1969 ) was a German lawyer and local politician .

Career

Irlinger completed his law studies in 1939 at the University of Innsbruck with a doctorate and then worked as a government councilor at the Starnberg district office . After Albert Hastreiter's death , he was appointed District Administrator of the Starnberg district on June 20, 1942 . On January 15, 1943, he was replaced by Count Theobald Khuen and reappointed district administrator on November 22, 1944. On April 27, 1945, with his appeal to the mayors and gendarmerie posts to refrain from resisting the approaching US troops, he obtained the surrender of the district without a fight. As a result, he was arrested by SS men.

In 1948, the Starnberg district council re-elected Irlinger, who was not part of the party, as district administrator. He remained in office for another 21 years until his death. During his tenure, the association for social housing and the planning association for the outer economic area of ​​Munich were founded. The district hospital in Starnberg was rebuilt and the construction of the circular sewer system around Lake Starnberg with the central sewage treatment plant in Starnberg began. In the "New Castle" Garatshausen , which the district had acquired in 1951, the district Altenheim was set up.

The youth hostel in the Starnberg district in Unterammergau is named after Max Irlinger .
