Wilhelm Tarnogrocki

Friedrich-Wilhelm Tarnogrocki , called Max Tarnogrocki , sometimes Tarnagrocki (born September 4, 1904 in Frankenhausen , † December 22, 1993 in Berlin ) was a German athlete and Olympic participant over 800 meters who was active as a long sprinter and middle-distance runner in the 1920s .

Athletic career

Tarnogrocki started for Zehlendorf 88 , where he was trained by Willi Duttke like his teammate Fredy Müller . Together with Willy Schumann and Müller, he ran for the title in the 3 × 1000 meter relay at the German Championships in 1925 , and the three set a world record for club relay in 7: 44.5 minutes . For reasons of study, he moved to Dresden to the Dresden Academic Sports Club . In addition to Otto Peltzer , Müller and Hermann Engelhard , Tarnogrocki was the fourth German participant in the IX over 800 meters . 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam . There he took the lead by three tenths of a second hit number four and retired. At the German championships two weeks earlier he was second behind Engelhard on the podium, which was his only individual medal at the German championships. He won a bronze medal with the 4 x 1,500 meter relay Dresdner SC in the line-up of Tarnogrocki, Vetters, Stahlke and Hans Gaß at the German Championships in 1932 . In the best lists of the Stadtverband Leichtathletik Dresden eV he is still led over 400 meters with a time of 50.2 s, achieved on September 7, 1927 in Dresden. He achieved his personal best over 800 meters on July 5, 1928 in Düsseldorf in 1: 54.4 minutes.

Others

After his sports career and completing his law degree , he received his doctorate and then worked as a tax advisor. He remained associated with the TSV Zehlendorf 88 club as head of the athletics department from 1960 to 1962.
