Max Werner Lenz
Max Werner Lenz (born October 7, 1887 in Kreuzlingen , † October 31, 1973 in Bassersdorf ; actually Max Werner Russenberger ) was a Swiss actor , director , cabaret artist and author .
Life
Max Werner Lenz grew up as the son of a bank employee in Kreuzlingen. He attended the arts and crafts school (specializing in embroidery design ) in St. Gallen . After training as an actor, he was engaged at the Zurich City Theater in 1918 . He directed the German Theater in Sibiu, Romania . He took on stage roles and directed in Dessau , Munich and Frankfurt am Main . After returning to Switzerland, he initially wrote mainly satirical feature articles for the NZZ and radio plays .
From 1934 to 1945 he was involved as a writer, director and actor at the Zurich Cabaret Cornichon . After leaving, he wrote cabaret texts for the Cabaret Fédéral and for solo programs by Elsie Attenhofer , two novels and a volume of poetry. He played supporting roles in several Swiss films or worked on the script. In the 1940 film Mier lönd nöd lugg , Lenz starred alongside Lisa Della Casa , Paul Hubschmid and Max Knapp .
In 1970 he became an honorary citizen of Bassersdorf, where he had lived since 1936 and where he died in 1973.
