Max von Essen

Max von Essen (born Thomas von Essen II.) Is an American musical actor and singer, born January 11, 1974 in New York City , New York .

Life

Max von Essen was born in New York City, the youngest of four children. His father is Thomas von Essen, who was New York's chief fire officer during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks .

Von Essen attended the University of North Carolina and, after graduating, went on tour with Liza Minnelli . He then toured Europe as an ensemble member in West Side Story and eventually became a member of the US National Tour, where he played as "Mary Sunshine" in the musical Chicago .
In 2000 he made his Broadway debut in Jesus Christ Superstar . From October 2002 to the end of January 2003 he played the young hero Alfred in Dance of the Vampires at the side of musical star Michael Crawford .

From 2007 to 2008 Max von Essen could be seen on Broadway as Enjolras, the charismatic leader of the student revolt, in Les Misérables . From 2009 he toured the US in the role of Sonny Malone for a year with Xanadu , based on the 1980 film of the same name . He then played the role of the soldier in an off-Broadway production of Hello Again , which is based on the drama Reigen by Arthur Schnitzler .

In 2012 he returned to Broadway as Magaldi in Evita . As the swing for the role of Che , he was seen in the role of Che at the beginning of July 2012, when the main actor was absent. As Henri Baurel in An American in Paris , he was able to celebrate his greatest success to date, receiving nominations for the Tony Award , the Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for best supporting actor.
