Maximilian Frederik Hendrik von Korff called Schmising (* 1779 in Münster ; † February 2, 1840 ibid) was officiator in the Prince Diocese of Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Maximilian Frederik Hendrik grew up as the son of Clemens August Heinrich von Korff called Schmising (1749–1821, Oberhofmarschall) and his wife Elisabeth Bernhardine von Nagel zu Loburg (1756–1809) together with his siblings Maximilian Franz (1781–1850, district administrator in the district Halle), Bernhardine (1785) and Clemens August Karl (1791–1864, District Administrator in the Warendorf district) in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Korff . On July 30, 1803, he married Sophia Ludovica von Galen (1784-1805, daughter of Clemens August Josef von Galen zu Assen ) in Münster . The son Clemens August , district administrator in the Halle district, emerged from the marriage. After Ludovica's death he was married to Therese von Boeselager (1780-1859). The children Maximilian (1809–1861, district administrator in the Lüdinghausen district) and Auguste (1815–1895) came from this marriage .

Career and work

After his father renounced the office of Drosten, Maximilian Frederik was appointed Drosten of the Office of Cloppenburg on March 15, 1802, and took his oath of office before the cathedral chapter on March 19. He studied forestry in Hamburg , during which his father took his place in the Drostenamt. He was sworn in again on May 5, 1802. In 1821 he inherited the Duderstadt estate as the eighth heir to Tatenhausen . From 1809 to 1811 Maximilian Frederik influenced the new building of the Löningen Church to such an extent that, at his instigation, the plan of the Münster architect Johann Nepomuck Schmidts for the new church was realized. On April 25, 1809, as building director on behalf of the Duke of Oldenburg, he laid the foundation stone of the new St. Vitus Church. In 1811 he resigned as head of the Cloppenburg office and retired to his estate in Tatenhausen .

From 1826 to 1837 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for East Minster and the knighthood.
