Maya Lalive d'Epinay

Maya Lalive d'Epinay-Buff (born June 17, 1957 in Zurich ) is a former politician ( national councilor ), coach for potential development and mental training, artist (stage name Maya Lalive), motivational speaker and author.

Life

education and profession

Maya Lalive d'Epinay studied art history , English literature and German at the University of Zurich . She received her licentiate in 1981. She completed advanced training in the areas of change management, marketing and communication, among others at the University of St.Gallen and the Technical University of Graz . In 2013 she completed the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) “Psychological and Mental Training in Sport” at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences .

She worked in various professions, including as a freelance journalist for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung , as a communications consultant and as a staff and manager on a mandate basis for various national and international companies. Lalive started her professional career as a consultant at the communications agency Farner Public Relations. In 1987 she was the youngest Vice Director at the Swiss Bank Corporation . In 1989 she was brought to the Landis + Gyr Group . In 1993 she became a member of the board of directors and management at Zintzmeyer & Lux (now Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux). In 1996 she started her own business. Maya Lalive has worked for numerous international and national companies and organizations, including in the financial and technology industries as well as for NPOs and startups .

As managing director of the ETH Zurich Foundation , she was accused in 2005 of collecting 30,000 francs for a part-time job and of benefiting a company in which her husband was involved. An investigation found that the allegations were baseless. Even so, Maya Lalive d'Epinay lost her job.

Since then, Lalive has appeared as an artist, mental coach for resilience and potential development for private individuals and companies, and as an author. For example, she wrote the political manifesto Uprising Against Mediocrity and, together with Jan Rauch, the handbook Mentally strong on the mountain: Training, technique, theory - How we make our psyche fit for the mountain , which conveys practical techniques and tools to make the psyche fit for mountain sports, but also for the challenges in professional and private life.

Part-time activities

Lalive held several honorary positions , including as President of the Swiss Youth Research Foundation . She also acted as a board member at the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce and was founding president of the umbrella organization for the ICT industry, ICT Switzerland.

Lalive is a captain in the Swiss Army .

Political activity

Maya Lalive d'Epinay was elected to the National Council for the Canton of Schwyz on December 6, 1999 . Four years later, the FDP politician was no longer elected.

Private life

Maya Lalive d'Epinay is married to the former SBB President Thierry Lalive d'Epinay and lives in Bäch in the canton of Schwyz.
